“Perhaps someone more tolerant and patient can take my person?” I had been pushing to get a new soul assigned to me ever since Mick had been born into the human realm, though it wasn’t all that long ago in my dimension’s time, I just couldn’t take it anymore.
“No, it’s much too late.” Phineas said, flicking through the pages of a big book. “And your divine purpose right now is to learn patience and tolerance, see.” He pointed to a page which had my name written in gold. “You and Mick planned this.” The expression he gave me would shut up any other guide, but as I am too stubborn I kept pushing.
“Look at him, Phineas” I whined, pulling back the veil that separated our two realms. It was like looking through a window, except the other person didn’t know you were there watching. “He is playing with a Ouija board! I only looked away for one second and he has a Ouija board out!”
“Yes, people tend to do that, you should be protecting him Lindsay, not complaining. Go through and help him.” No matter how right Phineas was, I was still frustrated and unwilling. It was a simpler time when Mick was here, he wasn’t dim-witted, but being in a human state dumbed him down immensely.
I stepped through the veil and talked tried to talk to him, “Stop playing with the Ouija board Mick, it’s not a good idea.”
Mick looked around, blinking the tears out of his eyes. At times it was hard to remember that, as short as a person’s life was, they would mourn the loss of their loved ones. Mick’s mother had recently passed back over to the other side, she looked much happier now, but just like every other person in that realm, he wasn’t handling death very well, so stupidly he had turned to a Ouija board to talk to her.
“Put it away Mick.” I said again, putting my hand on his shoulder. He ignored my presence, and the presence of the three ghosts that had suddenly formed around him. “Cross over you three! You don’t need to be in this realm any longer, go to the light!” No matter how loud I was however, it seemed these poor souls were too afraid to listen to my words.
I stepped away from them, and called out loudly, “Angels!” within seconds three large angels appeared in a flash of gleaming light. “Help them cross over.” I ordered,
Their large feathery wings had auras of purple and blue, their faces gleamed with pure love and they softly spoke to the ghosts. I had seen this so many times, but it never grew old to watch. It was a beautiful thing to witness, and not long after, all three crossed over. Fear had left their faces and their souls as they walked hand in hand through the veil into the next realm.
I grew frustrated that Mick hadn’t even felt the presence of the angels, why are people so closed off. Life may be fleeting, but being so closed off makes it a miserable journey. It seemed his grief was too painful for him to notice anything else but darkness and sorrow. I just knew it wouldn’t be long now until things other than ghosts would be attracted to this depression that was oozing out of his soul. “Mick, it’s time to rest now.”
The clock struck twelve, and at long last Mick finally went to bed. Unfortunately, the Ouija board was left sitting on the table however, if only I could throw it in the bin.
For a little longer I decided to stay on that side of the veil, it was easier to keep tabs on what was happening here. Time didn’t exist on the other side, so a person’s life flashed by very quickly for us spirit guides. It was like a day’s work, or maybe a week in human terms, a very stressful, but satisfying week in the end.
As Mick slept, I watched outside the window. The stars, the moon, everything was so dull. “No wonder you people get depressed,” I said out loud, looking to Mick. I knew that somewhere in his subconscious he could hear me, “lucky it’s only a short stay, huh Mick.”
Unexpectedly a presence entered the room, and stood over Mick as he slept. “You’re not welcome here!” I hissed, and without warning, the entity turned to me, it had no face, but I knew it could see me. “Leave now!”
It turned back to Mick, who was now twitching in his sleep. It seemed to have some sort of hold on him.
“ANGELS!” thankfully within seconds two large angels appeared. They both had a golden aura that shimmered around their wings, which were being used to trap the entity between them. While this all was happening, Mick awoke in a sweat. He turned the lamp on, and looked around, a hint of fear was in his eyes, but he couldn’t see any of us. The angels vanished with the entity between them, they had taken the demonic creature to neutralise into the earth, becoming another energy without evil motives. There were plenty more out there, constantly slipping between different dimensions to escape the angels grasp. I turned to Mick, “Well not long until you’re back here, then I can put you in your place, fool.”
